How to Take Stunning Photos of Your Kids Using Your Phone: A Parent’s Guide

There’s something sacred about witnessing women who hold space for others. When I had the chance to capture branding photos for Cailtyn Undreiner of Bloom Baby Doulas and Jen Kowal of Milkwell Lactation, I knew this session was about more than headshots—it was about nurturing and storytelling. These two women have created something powerful: the Nourish Mini Retreats, a soft landing for new and nursing mothers in Northern NJ who are seeking real support.

A Session Rooted In Meaning

Their mission is grounded in gentle care, honest conversation, and nervous system support—not fluff. And that meant the visuals we created together had to reflect that depth and softness.

The space at Arch Wellness was warm, welcoming, and intentionally crafted—a true labor of love from Jen Kowal, a lactation consultant committed to supporting the whole mother.

As a mom of four, I wish I had resources like this in my early postpartum days. But even now, further along in my journey, the conversations and care felt deeply relatable and nourishing.

This wasn’t just a branding session—it was a chance to witness and reflect the kind of support every mother deserves and I was deeply moved by the experience.

What are Nourish Mini Retreats?

Nourish Mini Retreats are weekly postpartum reset days created for new mothers and their babies. Held in Bloomfield, New Jersey, they offer:

  • Guidance from an experienced doula and certified lactation consultant
  • A welcoming space that isn’t a support group—but something more intentional and nurturing
  • Gentle care when formal yoga or structured support groups don’t feel like the right fit
  • Connection and calm for when you’ve “graduated” from early postpartum care
  • Community through ongoing sessions, with optional drop-ins when available

Whether you’re navigating breastfeeding challenges, feeling isolated, or just craving time to reconnect with yourself—this is for you.

Postpartum Care That Feeds You—Literally

What struck me most while photographing the Nourish Mini Retreat was how intentionally every element supported the whole woman. Mothers weren’t just offered education and support—they were nourished with warm, homemade soups crafted to be gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian, designed with hormonal health and healing in mind. It’s a gentle, grounding touch I’ve never seen offered in this way, and it made the space feel even more restorative.

At one point, poetry was read aloud—an unexpected and moving moment that reminded me this retreat isn’t just about postpartum care. It’s about feeding the soul, too.

Why it Matters

Many new moms are overwhelmed by conflicting advice, feeling isolated or unsure where to turn after the “fourth trimester” ends. Nourish offers a soft landing: a place where your experience is honored, your questions are answered, and your nervous system can breathe.

Why I Believe in this Work

I believe in the strength of women and the power of community. I believe that asking for help is a courageous act, that connection uplifts and teaches, and that we’re at our best when we show up for one another.

That’s why I offer branding photography for female-owned businesses in the motherhood and wellness space. Because I want to:

  1. Expand my network of trusted resources for the families I serve.
  2. Help women share their hearts and tell their stories through meaningful, beautiful imagery.
  3. Build bridges—connecting women to one another and creating a stronger, more supported village.

I feel so honored to work alongside women who are showing up with purpose and care. It’s not just about photos—it’s about reflecting who they are, and the good they’re putting into the world.

Let’s Keep Building this Village
