This spring I partnered alongside my dear friend, Samantha from Mama Meet Ups to launch a beautiful fundraising photography event to raise awareness and funds for maternal mental health.

This intimate photography event wasn’t just about capturing pretty photos (although we definitely did that)! It was about giving moms a moment to slow down, feel seen, and connect with their little ones in a beautiful, intentional way — all while raising funds for an incredibly important cause.

Why I Chose the Name Petals & Portraits for a Cause

When Samantha and I first started dreaming up this event, I knew I wanted the sessions to be immersive and playful—something moms and their children could really experience together.

The name Petals and Portraits came from that vision. Petals for the soft, romantic, textural elements I love weaving into my sessions, and portraits for the heartfelt, timeless images I always strive to create.

When I found Brittany from Petal Parties NJ, I immediately loved her floral cart. It felt like the perfect fit, and such a beautiful way to honor the moms who came to celebrate with us.

I wanted to bring in little moments like bouquet making, where children—especially the older ones—could create and gift flowers to their moms. We decorated baskets, twirled in the grass, laid by the pond on a blanket, and played with bubbles. It was lighthearted and real, filled with connection and joy.

The Response was Incredible!

We originally planned for just one day…but the first round of sessions sold out in under an hour!

We ended up adding a second date and welcomed nearly 16 moms and their littles. Together, we raised over $500 (and counting!) for Postpartum Support International’s annual event, The Climb — and the impact didn’t stop there.

More Than a Session — A Movement

It is so clear to me that Petals & Portraits was never meant to be a one-time event. After the response we received — and the meaningful moments shared — I’m beyond excited to share that this will officially be a yearly event hosted by Angela Beth Studio.

Because moms deserve more than just pretty pictures.
They deserve to feel held, celebrated, and seen.
